From Mara To Princess MiKay

There has been a lot of success that can be written in the history book of Kathryn Bernardo, and the list is getting longer and longer as the days go by. Who would expect that a very simple girl from Goin Bulilit will become today's princess in the Philippine TV? Nobody can really tell that and everyone just couldn't believe the success she is reaping now.

It all started with the show "Mara Clara" where she portrayed the role of Mara, the good girl of the show (it could bot be denied either that the "bad girl" Clara also had her success after the show). Kathryn became a household name in the Philippines and many even called her Mara instead of her real name. I was a bit skeptical about the success of the show when it was first revealed that it will be airing in ABS-CBN.

First, it is just a remake of an old Filipino soap opera. I had this thoughts since most of the successful remakes were local remakes of a foreign soap opera (mostly Korea and Mexican soaps). Moreover, the characters were to be portrayed by unknown actresses (Kathryn Bernardo and Julia Montes). They were still unknown at that time.

But their chemistry made it all possible. They raked very high numbers in the ratings game and eventually even toppled their counterparts from other TV stations. Then, as the cliche says, and the rest is history.

Kathryn and Julia went to their different paths and both of them became very successful. Kathryn is currently in "Princess and I" (as Princess Mikay) opposite big names like Gretchen Barretto and it is also making very high ratings in the ratings chart. Her dramatic prowess is loudly appreciated by many critics and so with many fans not only in the Philippines but also from all over the world, thanks to the TFC of ABS-CBN.

Talents like Kathryn have a long way to go in showbiz. Those talents should be nurtured and guided well so that their stars will shine brightly all throughout their showbiz career.
